Spring 2017 Newsletter

Hello! Well Spring has definitely bloomed into a flurry of activity and I am finally putting pen to paper (or rather fingers to keyboard) to bring you some news of exhibitions & events I am involved with, and a new workshops’ schedule.

I am delighted to have been invited to contribute to the following exquisite exhibitions, and I hope you may have a chance to visit one or more of them:

Branching Out
18 March – 24 June 2017          The Craft Centre and Design Gallery, Leeds, LS1 3AB
“Inspired by the beauty of trees the exhibition brings together a selection of talented makers creating contemporary jewellery, ceramics, glass and works in mixed media whose work captures the essence of these remarkably diverse and beautiful marvels of the natural world.”

Textile Textures
29 April – 4 June 2017              Walford Mill Crafts, Wimborne, Dorset BD21 1NL
“A vibrant exhibition giving textiles a voice that refines surface textures and colour. The creative processes from a selected group of contemporary makers are explored within the show.” Unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend the opening on the 29th April, but I’m very much hoping to soon be visiting this unique centre of excellence for contemporary British craft and design.

Spring Into Summer
12 May – 31 July 2017            Silson Contemporary Art, Harrogate HG2 0DS
This newly established gallery, nested at the heart of Sarah Collier’s home is an absolute gem where you will find a broad and fabulous selection of contemporary Yorkshire artists, (I would say that of course!). Well worth a visit and do check the website for opening days and times before you head out.

The Contemporary Craft Festival
09 – 11 June 2017      Mill Marsh Park, Bovey Tracey, Devon

For the second year running I will be showing at the Contemporary Craft Festival in Bovey Tracey. It was a great experience last year, which wouldn’t have been the same without the help of my friend Chantal.

This time my niece Romane, over from Montreal will be assisting me – hurrah! So don’t miss the chance to meet over 200 makers of contemporary craft; and if you are able to visit, we would love to meet you.

And at last some new workshops dates!

Over the summer I will be teaching a couple of workshops at Springfield Art in the heart of rural Wales, near the Brecon Beacons and Hay-on-Wye. The place is run by Fiona and her partner who came up to Yorkshire to attend one of my workshops and of course, we got talking…

So lovely to receive all your news. I am also looking forward to the Oxford summer School. I have booked a place to stay in Oxford near the college through airbandb. It is a self contained cabin in someone’s garden and looks really nice. I will be 70 during that week, on 27 July !!

I do hope I can get to Leeds to see the show there.

    Best wishes
